filling drawers up with sand putting clothes inside the fridge expecting weather to be kind forecast says we'll all eat dust moving fast you seem quite slow write a postcard to yourself begin to think on making plans ideally moving forward documents lost in breaking waves conflicting thoughts build your own face writing essays on your hands professors grading papercuts my friend laughs at navy dorks swimming in the hudson losing hope i never had focus on my pets' health saw a dog deliver mail i think i'm moving backwards
3.
find time breathe in and ignore the walls closing in on you we're as square as we can be load bearing, overwhelmed claustrophobia won't be our biggest strength build fires stay warm and breathe out lungs can only do so much before you're left on your own still trying to find your place claustrophobia won't be our biggest strength
4.
maybe i'm not crazy at all you've got to admit it's hard to think while the sun won't shut up sorry, where did you go? oh no - have i been alone all along?
5.
looking for jobs fuels my depression can't go outside without feeling worthless it will take time to be alright it doesn't matter anyway falling apart i always feel hopeless turned to my cats in search of compassion they didn't care
6.
how is it fair to think that everyone must listen to what you want to hear? unaware that the entire crowd's happier than you've ever been why are you here? just 'cause the gig is free it doesn't mean you're welcome (here) feel free to leave your friends in matching leather jackets are looking for you it feels like everything is perfect while the band plays everyone sings along to Dotwork

about

What is happiness? i don't own a Webster's dictionary.

i tend to be wary of happiness. When something good happens i'm too focused on trying to find a negative aspect to feel happy about it, as if happiness were a sort of Trojan horse for catastrophe and letdowns.

Turns out living like this is rough on your mind and body, and after enough time it becomes the default mechanism that your brain relies on for everything, so you lose the ability to feel happy. Instead, everything feels tedious and cynical.

i've been trying to get rid of those intrusive thought cycles and a big part of that is making an extra effort to focus on the good things and not take them for granted, both while they happen and when they're over. This album is me focusing on the good things and making the effort to accept and embrace the happiness that comes with them. i wrote these songs thinking about the things that make my heart swell with joy and truly make appreciate life, like a friend's smile, seeing your favorite bands play, making puns that include the word "meow" and accepting yourself.

i hope you enjoy these songs and i hope you have a great day.
Much love,

meowbriele
